Events promoter and talents manager Abbey Musinguzi alias Abitex Promoter has slapped singer Serena Bata with demand a notice demanding over Ugx 750 for breach of contract.
In a legally binding agreement signed in 2020, Serena Bata and Abited Promotions agreed that the former would oversee the latter’s talent.
However, in November 2022, Serena Bata embarked on performing at several shows without her management’s consent, breaching the contract.
This compelled Abitex to void the contract with Serena Bata, and she was given the edict never to perform again the music recorded while still bound to the contract.
Serena, however, refused to budge on Abitex’s requests, which led the event promoter to consult with his attorneys at Lukwago and Company Advocates and a demand notice dated April 18, 2023, was issued.
In the notice, Abitex demands that Serena refund Ugx 100M she accrued during the performances she held without his knowledge.
Serena is also required to pay an additional Ugx 300M in fees, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses related to her actual breach of the agreement and failure to perform her obligations thereunder.
