The family of the former Kawempe North elected member of parliament, the late Muhammed Ssegirinya has selected Alex Luwemba as a candidate they would want to replace the deceased in parliament.
The decision was taken during a closed clan meeting that convened at the home of the deceased’s parents in Masaka where the family endorsed Alex Luwemba who has been a personal assistant and close friend to the late Ssegirinya.
Speaking to the press, the late Ssegirinya’s mother, Nakajumba Ssanyu Justine emphasized the close relationship Alex Luwemba had with the deceased and the confidence they have in him to carry his legacy forward and accomplish his manifesto.
“Alex Luwemba is my son and I want the voters to trust him as my son’s successor. I want you to vote for him because he loved my son so much,” she said.
The mother’s statements were backed by the relatives and the deceased’s widow, who explained that Alex is the only candidate who is capable of implementing the pending projects left behind by the deceased.
“My son told me he trusted Alex because he did so much for him. He said he wanted him to run for office as his replacement,” she said as she called upon NUP to support Alex.
