A Pass explains genesis of beef with Rabadaba

Musician A Pass has expressed his disappointment with fellow dancehall artist Rabadaba for undermining the efforts of other artists in the same genre.

Rabadaba appeared on NTV‘s The Beat entertainment show last week. He discredited all dancehall artists, including A Pass, claiming no other artist in the genre has enjoyed success like him. He tagged this to the different parts of the country he has visited, where he has heard people singing his songs word by word.

For a long time, Rabadaba has been indirectly hitting at A Pass. While appearing on the same station, A Pass revealed that Rabadaba wasn’t using facts in his statements. He argued that it was disrespectful for the ‘Bwekiri’ singer to overlook the work he has done for the industry.

A Pass acknowledged that Rabadaba made very good music that was popular with different categories of people. However, given that he ran away, this doesn’t give him the right to undermine other people in the genre.

“Since he was so good, he ran away. If you believe that what you are doing is exceptional, then stay here and do it. His 15 minutes of fame are long gone,” he said.

The tension between the two artists dates back close to ten years, when A Pass was starting his professional music career. Chris Martin had a show in Uganda, and A Pass was the only Ugandan artist to step on stage with him.

Rabadaba, however, thought that he had to take centre stage and headline the show; he was not selected to do so. He forced his way up on stage and made sure A Pass performed after him.

“He did the same thing in Sudan, yet he was not part of the show. To me, he comes off like a chaotic person. Some of these older artists have that stupid mentality and attitude that is not necessary. They want to fight people, and they are entitled. Even the music you are doing, some have done it before. Don’t throw it in our faces,” A Pass.
