A Pass vows never to pay deejays, says good music promotes itself”

Dancehall musician A Pass, real name is Alexander Bagonza, has opened up about why he never tips deejays or pays them to play his music.

A Pass made the revelation during his recent interview, in which he made it clear that he would never give money to deejays to play his songs. He revealed that good music is supposed to earn its spot without needing to pay for airplay.

Their tip to me is music. If you love it, play it if you don’t, well and good. You might pay someone and they will only play your song when they see you around which doesn’t make sense. If you release good music, it can hype someone to play it. I focus on making songs that people enjoy,” he revealed to BBS TV.

Several times, deejays have sworn that they would never play Ugandan music because artists do not tip them. They revealed that they would resort to playing foreign music, something which A Pass doesn’t agree to, as it doesn’t help grow the industry.
