Events promoter and talents manager Abbey Musinguzi alias Abitex promotions has been remanded to prison until 10th January in light of the Freedom City Stampede.
Being the promoter behind the event that claimed 10 revelers on new year’s eve at Freedom city Namasuba, Abitex was arrested and charged with negligence.
Earlier today, the promoter was arraigned before the Makindye Magistrate’s Court where judge Igga Adiru charged him with 9 counts of Negligent act occasioning the death of nine victims.
According to the allegations, Abitex put people’s lives in danger by cutting off other exits from the venue gates, leaving only one tiny gate which couldn’t accommodate more than 20,000 people to leave safely.
Until January 10th, 2023, when his bail request would be considered, Abitex Promotions was sent to Kitalya Prison.

According to the events promoter’s lawyer Erias Lukwago, the owner of the place, his manager and police officers who were hired to provide security and deal with all matters relating to crowd management have not been arraigned.
