Upcoming singer Amal King has called out media personality, Mr. Henry for allegedly eating his hard-earned money and failing to play his music on his radio show.
The singer and songwriter narrated his ordeal in an interview, revealing that the incident happened shortly after he had released his new single ‘Malaika’ and in a bid to promote it, he sent Ugx 50K to the Galaxy FM and TV host, Mr. Henry to play his song on air, something which he did not do.
‘Mudra connected me to Mr. Henry when I had released my new single. The song was good and Mudra advised me to see Mr. Henry to help me promote it. I had saved up my 50K after my very hard work as a site potter. I sent it to him on the phone but he never played my song,” the singer revealed, fighting back tears.
Amal further stated that he did not see the need to visit Mr. Henry physically and have the discussion with him because he came highly recommended by Mudra who has rubbed shoulders with several presenters. So, he trusted his word when he vouched for him.
“I did not go there because Mudra convinced me that he was a good man. That is why I just sent him the money but he never played the song,” he said.
The habit of media presenters collecting money from young artists for airplay has become the norm in the entertainment industry.
Amal says this has forced many budding artists to promote their music via TikTok instead of the mainstream media.

“This is so draining that is why I support Alien Skin’s approach of artists disrespecting media personalities. I do not blame them because these presenters force them to.
If you give people like Mr. Henry your money and they do not play your music, you rather get money for data and you promote your song on TikTok,” he concluded.
