One of the long-standing comedians and founder of the Amarula Family, Amooti Omubalanguzi has reaffirmed his commitment to hosting his 25-year- anniversary show at the UMA Show Grounds, Lugogo as earlier announced, despite public concerns about the venue’s capacity.
Amooti Omubalanguzi has created a legacy of making Ugandans laugh year after year and fans are eagerly waiting for him to hold his solo show, but some expressed concerns with the venue, citing its limited size considering his vast fan base.
In an interview, however, Amooti explained that he was sticking with UMA Show Grounds because it is what the promoter who bought his show could afford and he preferred working with a straightforward promoter, having previously encountered indecisive investors.
That is what the promoter that bought my show can afford for now. The other people who were talking about my show and wanting to stage it at bigger venues like Serena were inconclusive and undecisive. I would rather deal with a person who is straight forward with their decision. The plan was to organise at Namboole and I promise I will one day stage it there,” he said, promising his fans a bigger venue for his next show.
In May, Amooti revealed struggles in finding reliable promoters to help him stage his show, citing financial instability as a major concern.
He wanted to avoid potential disputes that would arise over nonpayment of service providers which is why he settled with Cyclon Events which showed interest.
The highly anticipated event is slated for 13th December with gates opening at 6 PM.
