Aroma Calls Out Abitex for Unpaid Performance

Musician Aroma has outed veteran promoter Abitex, real name Abbey Musinguzi, for failing to pay her after one of the performances he hired her for.

Aroma, during an interview, revealed that at the start of her career, she was contacted by Balaam to perform at one of his shows. They discussed the pay, and when they agreed on how much she would be paid, Abitex added on the poster.

The show at Freedom City was a total sellout, and she put on a fantastic show that fans loved. Regarding payment, Abitex only paid senior artists and those bold enough to speak out for themselves. Aroma was among the few who waited backstage but were never paid.

“I came excited to sing; the reception was so good and we had agreed on how much money he would pay me. By the time he agreed for me to perform, it means that he knew I was worth that money and it wasn’t that much. Big promoters have a tendency of inviting you for work without first paying any deposit fee. And since they are mature, you feel the need to give them that respect. After the performance, he started giving the artists who have assertive managers and left me there. He kept disappearing up to now, he has never paid me,” she said.

When tasked to mention the promoter who gave her first-ever big paycheck, Aroma credited Hon. Barugahara Balaam Ateenyi.

“There was a show that Balaam had at a certain beach on Entebbe Road. He paid me a lot of money, and it was during the genesis of my career. He gave me money that excited me,” she said.
