A group of producers have expressed their disappointment and frustrations with Ugandan artists for snubbing the vigil and burial of the late producer Skills On Da Beat who passed on on Wednesday at Kiruddu Hospital.
The deceased’s body was immediately transported on the same day of his demise to his ancestral home in Buwenge, Jinja City where he was laid to rest the following day on Thursday afternoon. Despite being a big name in the music industry and working with various artists, most of them did not turn up to commemorate the bereaved family.
The vigil happened at his home in Makindye, Mukizungu, a place known to be surrounded by many artists but they still did not come through.
Musician Dokta Brain, promoter Bash, and producer Rinex were among the few people digging up the grave and mixing materials that were used to prepare Skills On Da Beat’s final resting place. Promoter Bash was so bitter with artists for refusing to turn up even at a place closest to them.
He has worked with many big artists but it is sad that the people he worked for have not come through to be with the family. It is very wrong that a very good producer has left us but the people who have stood with us are those he never even worked with, Promoter Bash said.
Skills On Da Beat fell sick about two weeks ago and according to his caretaker, he had been diagnosed with malaria for which he received treatment and got better.
However, on Wednesday, he developed serious complications and was rushed to different medical centers his family was frustrated with the huge amounts of money but died at around 4 AM shortly after arriving at Kiruddu Hospital.
Producer Rinex has called upon fellow producers to stop relying on artists for any sort of help because he says they never come through to help them in times of need.

Our industry is very funny and I want to tell my fellow producers to be on the lookout and be wise enough because we are in this thing alone. The guys we claim to be our friends are not; we only have a few friends in this industry, Rinex said.
