Balaam Barugahara vows to join efforts with authorities to tackle rising drug abuse in Kampala bars

Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi has pledged to join forces with security organs to crack down on drug abuse in Kampala bars.

Drug abuse has been a topic of discussion among Ugandans, with many venting their frustration with how the vice has taken a toll on people’s lives.

Taking to her socials, social media blogger Ssenga Acid shared how drugs are circulating in bars around Kampala, ending musicians’ lives and careers.

Upon crossing paths with Ssenga Acid’s video, Hon. Balaam Barugahara took interest in the matter, revealing that he is joining concerned parties to take the issue very seriously.

He highlighted the importance of Ugandans coming together to protect the youths and the entire population from the scourge of drug abuse.

We’re taking the issue of drugs in Kampala pubs very seriously and actively investigating it with the help of AIGP Magambo, Director of CID, and AIGP Gen Damulira, Director of Crime Intelligence. We’ll leave no stone unturned in gathering facts and ensuring that those responsible face justice.

It’s crucial that we, as Ugandans, come together to protect our youth and the entire population from the scourge of drug abuse. I appreciate Madam Senga Acid for shedding light on this issue. It’s unfortunate that some individuals are more concerned with hiding the truth than addressing the humanity of this crisis. Our goal is to create a safer, healthier environment for everyone, and we won’t tolerate any form of drug-related activity in our pubs or communities. We’ll work tirelessly to ensure that those who engage in such activities are held accountable.
