Rema Namakula was one of the few artists that Bebe Cool lent a hand to at the inception of her career. In one of his interviews, the Gagamel International boss revealed that he had a dream of making Rema the Tiwa Savage of Uganda if she had stayed with his label.
At this point, Rema Namakula has made significant progress in her career and has even performed on international stages.
She has just featured on Nigerian superstar Orezi’s ‘Start To Dance’ remix, which has been received with mixed reactions. A section of social media users suggests that the genre didn’t suit Rema’s style of music, hence she didn’t do justice to “Start To Dance.”
Many have known her for her love songs, which are usually performed at weddings and introduction ceremonies, and her adopting a dancehall vibe would likely sway her audience.
Bebe Cool, while giving his opinion about it, blasted the critics trying to limit Rema Namakula on what she could do with her talent. He encouraged the vocalist to explore markets outside Uganda, as this would guarantee her a wider audience.

Do not let people decide for you on what to do as long as you have something you want to do and have a plan to execute it. Stick to it; these people will get used with time. If Rema decided to take that line, leave her alone; maybe she discovered something.
Why would you want to corner her in weddings and introductions? Rema has the vision. Those criticizing her want her to be stuck in traditional attire and after they will come and pay expensively to watch Tiwa Savage.
I would be so happy if she sticks in that direction because it gives her a wider audience. We shall not stay stuck in one place,” he said.
