Dancehall artist Crescent Baguma alias Beenie Gunter has termed Dubai as a cursed city, following a scuffle that saw him arrested and detained in the foreign land where he had gone to entertain his fans.
Speaking in a sit-down interview, the ‘Tubaayo’ hitmaker recounted what he went through in the cold hands of foreigners and concluded that he will not be stepping there any time soon because he doesn’t see any opportunities for him for the kind of work and music he does.
“People do not have sense in that country. While many refer to it as their dream country, I feel it is so cursed. So many things that are unclear there, so many lies.
I traversed through Dubai and experienced everything. I really do not see anything important for me to do there.
According to the kind of jobs I do, I do not see any important opportunities that would benefit me. Even the music I do is different from what they listen to because they are Arabs,” he said.
Beenie Gunter was arrested and detained on 21st January 2024 at Dubai Airport and detained while he was boarding a plane back to Uganda. Beenie Gunter who had gone to perform allegedly got into a fight with events promoters, a scuffle that saw several properties destroyed. This forced the owner of the premises to report the case to the local authorities for compensation.
The Guntalk boss who was in the company of his girlfriend Nickie Berry was arrested and whisked away from the airport leaving her to come back home alone.
He was detained in three different jails in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi over charges of vandalizing property and violent conduct.
