Veteran musician, producer, and Swangz Avenue founder Benon Mugumbya has expressed regret over not starting a family earlier in life.
In a deep conversation with Mr. Henrie, Benon revealed that while he was younger, he put all his mind and dedication to work. This made it difficult for him to balance his business and social life. Along the way, he says he lost a number of women who he believed loved him deeply.
Coming from a background marked by financial hardships, Benon always wanted to make money first and then focus on a family later. But he realized it was the wrong decision.
‘When you are starting up a business, you are dedicated. Along the way, I lost people and when I look back, I believe they loved me. I was myopic, and I believe that is the price I have paid for my success,” he revealed.
After achieving the much-desired level of success and now having the time, Benon began to weigh his life, realizing there was a missing piece.

Now that he is ready, he says it has become a challenge for him to find someone he can settle down with. He is, however, open to the idea of family. And he believes he will get married at some point in life.

“I would love to have kids and I’m very old now. I believe in family and as a man I believe a woman adds a lot to you. But it is something I do not want to just tick the box. I have been in a couple of relationships and realized sometimes it is better to be alone and happy than being in a relationship where you feel you are lonely,” Benon said.
