Former Golden Band singer Carol Nantongo was reduced to tears midway through her press conference as former Golden Bandmates rallied ahead of her much anticipated maiden concert.
Earlier this year, Carol Nantongo announced that she would be holding her maiden concert at Hotel Africana.
During her just-concluded press conference, she could not contain her excitement for the massive support she received from Maureen Nantume, Ronald Mayinja, Catherine Kusasira, Fred Sseruga, and Mesach Ssemakula among others who have always treated her like their sibling.
While expressing her gratitude to everyone who rendered their support at times when she most needed it, Carol Nantongo went emotional and couldn’t control tears from rolling down her cheeks.
I thank them so much before the camera because they have looked after me. I’m a well groomed and raised woman and all thanks to the people that took me under their wings. They have raised me well. I’m so happy to have them all together here with me. They have come out for me and this is a blessing, she said.
Golden Band deviated from the long-standing Eagles Production in 2014 citing financial differences. It was owned by Mesach Ssemakula and Ronald Mayinja who held 19% shares, Musa Kavuma and Fred Sseruga both at 10%, Catherine Kusasira, Stecia Mayanja, and Doreen Mutiibwa, all at 8%.
Carol Nantongo who was also a member announced her departure in 2020 after five years, explaining how the directors threw away their roles and put all their focus on politics.
