There has been a new twist in the ongoing legal copyright battle between singer Bebe Cool and comedy store boss Alex Muhangi as the latter is set to appear in court at City Hall on 19th March 2025.
This comes after the singer’s legal team issued an official letter threatening to sue Alex Muhangi for alleged copyright and neighboring rights infringement over Bebe Cool’s performance content at the comedy store.
Earlier today, the comedian through his X (formerly Twitter) account gave an update about the case, revelaing that his to appear before the City Hall court tomorrow.
“As some of you may know, I’m currently facing a legal situation with Bebe Cool regarding the Comedy Store videos of his performance that I posted on our platforms,” he captioned.
In the court document was an application for an order to access, inspect, retrieve, examine and analyze the content uploaded on the accused’s YouTube channel and also ascertain the number or views, comments and upload dates per link.
This would help the court determine whether the copyright rules were violated as alleged by Bebe Cool.
Alex also called upon his well-wishers to support him during the court proceedings and requested those who can stand as his sureties to be present that day.
“The guy was serious. Tomorrow at 9 AM, I’ll be appearing in court at City Hall, please join me if you can.Don’t forget your National ID and LC Letter to stand as surety for me. Thank you for your support—it means the world to me.Much love,Alex Muhangi.”
