Doreen Gift Bugingo, daughter of city pastor Aloysious Buingo and estranged wife of Teddy Naluswa, is set to join the 2025 Mandela Washington Fellowship at Arizona State University after being selected by the U.S Mission in Uganda.
The exciting news was revealed by the US Embassy Kampala on their social media handles, describing Doreen as a person who is passionate about driving Uganda’s digital transformation through projects that expand broadband connectivity, promote digital skills, and enhance e-service delivery.
The initiative is part of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), which aims to empower young people to grow as leaders in public service and technology.
It is worth noting that in 2023, Doreen Gift graduated with a Master of Science degree in Telecommunication Engineering from Makerere University. She is currently employed as an Infrastructure Engineer at the Ministry of ICT.

Doreen’s appointment was met with excitement from social media users, especially after her father, Bujingo Aloysious, came out years back and disowned her, together with her three other siblings, for siding with their mother after their public separation.
