Music icon, Eddy Kenzo has broken his silence on his recent absence from the music scene. Once known for releasing back-to-back hits and collaborations with international artists, Eddy Kenzo has been noticeably quiet and his fans were asking why.
In a sit-down interview, the Big Talent boss revealed that his break is a deliberate decision, driven by his new role as Presidential Advisor for Creatives and as a leader, he feels the responsibility to pave the way for upcoming artists.
That is why his focus has shifted from releasing new music to developing sustainable initiatives that will benefit the creative community.
I have my own way of doing things, not how people want me to. I’m still the one. We all know amidst all we do; we have to spare time and see that we also serve the communities we come from.
So, I decided to tone down the speed I was using to release music and also work on our personal issues that are disturbing because they can affect us even in our death. Things like organizing, creating functioning structures, creating a good foundation for the ones coming after us not to face the challenges we faced. I had to handle that part like a concerned person because if we were all to careless, our country would be affected in the future and if we are to do it now, we are easing the journey for the ones after us,” he noted
The break, however, doesn’t mark the end of Eddy Kenzo’s music career. With a catalog of timeless music hits, Eddy Kenzo continues to receive booking requests for performances across Africa.
He is choosing to put these opportunities on hold for now but fans can still enjoy his existing music as he gears up for his eventual comeback.

But that doesn’t mean that I have stopped releasing music. I will be back any time but for now people should be listening to my old. I released timeless music even without a new song, you will see me across Africa performing because bookings are still coming in, I’m the one putting them on pause. I do my things my own way,” he said.
