Music sensation Eddy Kenzo has spoken out on how he has managed to maintain his menial well-being and avoid drug addiction throughout his long music career. Unlike some of his peers who have struggled with substance abuse due to pressure and personal issues, Eddy Kenzo credits his faith and resilience for keeping him grounded.
As a devout Muslim, Eddy Kenzo emphasized the importance of putting God first in his life, revealing that it has kept him sane and given him the ability to navigate life’s challenges and the pressure that comes with the music industry.
First and foremost, I put God first. I lean on God for everything I do and He guides me. Not because I do not go through different stages in life; as a human being I go through a lot but God gave me a very strong mind. I know how to compose myself and come back on the truck, no matter the situation. But not everyone is like me, everyone handles the situation differently, Eddy Kenzo said.
Eddy Kenzo acknowledged facing struggles, including a highly publicized breakup with his former partner, singer Rema Namakula, who later married Dr. Hamza Ssebunya.

In 2019, Kenzo’s emotional live sessions on Facebook sparked concerns about his mental health, with many speculating that he was battling depression.
However, the Big Talent boss clarified that his emotional displays were simply a reflection of his humanity and vulnerability, shutting down allegations that he had lost his mind over a heartbreak.
I have never been depressed because of love. Not everyone that cries openly is depressed. I was emotional just like any other person. Simply emotions and it can happen any time and to everyone, he said.
Eddy Kenzo said this during the Mental Health Day at UNMF which was aimed at spreading awareness that mental health is real, especially in their field of business.
