Swangz Avenue’s male singer, Elijah Kitaka has taken a bold step to address the rumors going around about his sexuality, specifically denying the allegations that he is gay. The speculations have been sparked by his controversial sense of style, but Elijah is setting the record straight.
“I just laugh and chill because I love myself more than anyone else. I do the things I like and I have been through a lot so I can’t shake because of that. It only energizes me that people have time to come on my page and troll me, meaning they are always watching,” he said, strongly denying the allegations.
Elijah Kitaka is known for his daring style and is always pushing boundaries with his bold choices. His signature style is donning short shorts, multiple face piercings, and showing up in colors typically associated with the female gender. While netizens, especially social media users have misinterpreted his style, Kitaka asserts that it is simply a form of self-expression.
By speaking out against the swirling rumors, Kitaka challenges societal norms, encouraging others to do the same. He says the world has evolved and people should stop judging others based on what they see because it usually doesn’t depict who they are.
“We have all grown up in societies with different traditions that we follow. When other artists from outside Uganda come here, netizens do not recognize such things on them. Truth is we are supposed to look beyond this because we have evolved. Me dressing like this does not mean I’m gay, I just want to live my life like this,” Elijah Kitaka said.
Signed under Swangz Avenue, Elijah Kitaka is one of the few artists with the biggest song (Dawa) in the country. He says instead of wasting his time on haters who accuse him of being who is not, he channels all his time and energy into music.

“People say these things and I can’t waste my time to reply to them because I use that time to go to the studio. I can’t explain myself to people, I just channel all this in music,” he concluded.
