Ugandans are looking forward to the long-awaited Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium grand opening scheduled for 1st June 2024.
The sports Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium has been under renovation since 2017 which was funded by renowned city tycoon Hamis Kiggundu.
Following its renovation, Nakivubo now has an all-seater facility, a VIP executive box, a newly laid astro turf, lavish dressing rooms, a modern fully stocked gym, a boxing docket, netball courts, a basketball court, a boxing arena, and state-of-art floodlights.
The 25,000-seater facility was initially commissioned by the President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, before the first lady as well as the Minister of Education and Sports Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni’s visit.
On the grand opening D-day, a star-studded lineup of musicians has been put up, including Jose Chameleone, Alien Skin, Rickman Manrick, Jennifer Full Figure, Fik Fameica, Lil Pazo, Ray G, Lydia Jazmine, Pallaso, Haruna Mubiru, Kabako, Topic Kasente, Gravity Omutujju, Eddy Kenzo, David Lutalo, A Pass, Sheebah, Spice Diana among many others.

On the same day, several games will be carried out including two football matches, a kickboxing bout, and a boxing contest.
