The Ugandan music industry has for so long witnessed its fair share of feuds between different artists, but the latest between fast-rising stars; Fik Gaza and Alien Skin has taken a dramatic turn.
The two camps have clashed a number of times; one of them being the recently concluded Zzina Awards when the rival gangs met at the same venue and started throwing bottles and hurling insults against one another. The clash which was suppressed by the police was so violent that it sent some members from both gangs to hospital.
Fans may not know the reason behind their constant fights but many believe the battle lines were drawn the day Fik Gaza who was once under Alien Skin’s camp decided to break away and pursue a solo career.
In a recent interview, Fik Gaza made it clear that they are sworn enemies and that there was no hope of them collaborating on a music project together with Alien Skin, citing irreconcilable differences and a deep-rooted beef that they have between them.
We are not friends. When some presenters called me asking if there was any beef between us, I assured them that the battle was still ongoing and I hung up my phone… I will never do a song with him. We can’t do that,” Fik said, clearing all the doubts of people who thought they were pulling a public stunt.
The news will surely disappoint fans from both parties who hoped the beef between them was a public stunt to make money.
