Renowned Ugandan rapper GNL Zamba, real name is Ernest Nsimbi, has denied allegations suggesting that during the early stages of his music career, he was signed to Navio’s record label.
“He lies a lot. There is a lie that people tell, and you know exactly where it originates. You analyse his career, and in 20 years, he has not signed anybody yet; he has the resources. They keep lying like this because they are embarrassed by this fact,” he said.
According to GNL, his career began in 2008, when he was signed by Shadrack Platinum Entertainment, a label that covered all his studio and video expenses.
Contrary to what was stated earlier, GNL Zamba revealed that he wrote several songs for Navio, including “Saloon” and “Bugumu,” among others. Even for his service, he claims that Navio never paid them a single cent, as they had agreed.
“He is my brother, but he lies a lot. The truth is there, and you can go back to the papers and see when GNL came out. He wants to say my label was not injecting money in me?” he questioned.

Navio was part of Klear Kut, who broke on the scene before GNL did. They, however, split up, and Navio returned to Uganda from South Africa. He tried releasing music but was not resonating with the local audience.
GNL, on the other hand, being a ghetto youth, was slowly gaining popularity in both the media and the fans.
“Somebody advised them (Navio) to bring me in to at least wrote a hook in their song. I wrote Salon and it became a hit. They called me in to do Bugumy, but a time came where the crowd always sang my verse of the song,” he said.
GNL claims Navio became jealous, and just because he was from a prominent family, he started looking down on him.

“Some people are born out of entitlement, and it has blinded them. He looks down on people like us who come from Kawempe until the very end,” he said.
GNL, however, revealed that he did not want any clash between them, and that would be the last time he would answer such a question.
