Hajat Kulthum declares end of marriage to Acram Gumisiriza

In an emotional statement, Hajat Kulthum, the widow of the late Sheikh Nuhu Muzaata Batte, has announced her decision to officially end her marriage to Acram Gumisiriza.

In a letter shared publicly, Kulthum expressed the difficulty of making such a decision. She highlighted the importance of honesty, self-respect, and personal peace.

“I met Mr. Acram Gumisiriza in 2021 and we got married officially and legally in 2022,” she wrote. “Having lost my dear husband, the Late Sheikh Nuhu Muzaata Batte, I longed for companionship. That’s how I ended up marrying Mr. Gumisiriza. However, from the very start, I began noticing red flags.”

Kulthum revealed that the decision to divorce was not impulsive but a result of deep reflection, prayer, and soul-searching. Despite numerous efforts to mend their relationship, the emotional and spiritual distance between them only grew wider over time.

“This is not about blame,” she clarified. “It’s about acknowledging that we are no longer good for each other in the way that a partnership should be.”

Respect, maturity, and fairness will guide the divorce process, she assured. She emphasized that she has engaged Sheikh Abdul Rahaman Serunjoji and her family to oversee the proceedings by Islamic teachings and cultural practices.

She also addressed the spiritual weight of ending a sacred union: “Marriage was not only a personal commitment but also a sacred one, and ending it is not something I take lightly. I have prayed, reflected, and sought peace in my heart before coming to this conclusion. While this may not be the outcome we envisioned, I believe that even in endings, Allah offers guidance, mercy, and the opportunity for healing.”

Kulthum extended her gratitude to family, religious leaders, cultural leaders, friends, the business community, and the Ugandan public for their support throughout her journey. She also expressed hope for peace, healing, and mutual respect in the days ahead.

“I regret to inform all those who have wished our marriage well that the road has ended with immediate effect,” she concluded. “I truly hope that in time, we can both find peace and happiness on our own separate paths.”

This announcement marks a new chapter for Hajat Kulthum, as she seeks strength, peace, and healing moving forward.
