Veteran singer Halima Namakula has addressed claims suggesting that she is behind upcoming singer Omukunja Atasera’s illness and months-long suffering.
Yesterday, Omukunja appeared on social media addressing rumors that have been making rounds on social media suggesting that he had passed on.
In the video shared on his page, Omukunja revealed that he was battling a strange illness for a while, linking some of its cause to asking for favors from different people.
In his statement, he emphasized that he was not coming clean about his illness for financial support but to ask for forgiveness from Halimah Namakula whom he claims is behind his suffering.
In an interview, the ‘Kimbewo’ hitmaker rubbished the claims insinuating that they are baseless and untrue making it known that she only crossed paths with Omukunja once in her life, before advising him to go Mpox check-up before he lost his life.
She, however, believes that an unknown person is funding Omukunja to spread these lies about her and tarnish the brand that she has spent years building.
She called upon her fans to disregard the rumor completely as she had never taken any money from Omukunja as he had earlier stated.
“People who me from when I started out in music know what is and what is not right. They will talk and eventually get tired. For all the years I have been in the game, how could I possibly choose a young boy to mess with; he is the one playing with me. Just let him go on because I know someone is behind it all but he will run out of money and they fall out. I do not care about all this since I don’t even know that boy.
I have built my brand and people know what I’m capable of. If I have 900 people out of 1000 believing in me, I do not care about the opinions of the rest. The problem I have with him is that the allegations are heavy but he still won’t take anything or get any money from me because I do not handle the association’s money,” Halima Namakula said.
Omukunja and Halima bitterly fell out a few years ago, on claims that the latter swindled funds. She has since denied the accusations and promised not to engage in a verbal exchange with the upcoming artist.
