Legendary musician Halima Namakula has proudly spoken out about her daughter and fellow musician Rema Namakula’s commitment to decency, particularly regarding dressing.
As a respectful Muslim woman and artist, Rema has consistently maintained high standards, setting an example for her peers.
Halima attributes her daughter’s modesty to her upbringing, stating that she raised her with strong values that emphasize the importance of covering up. This approach has ensured that Rema Namakula avoids embarrassing situations that come with dressing indecently.
I will not talk about my daughter Rema Namakula because she was well brought up. She knows she cannot go anywhere dressed in short outfits so you won’t find her dressed indecently at a function she has gone to perform to, she said.
Halima Namakula also encouraged fellow female artists to prioritize modesty, emphasizing that exposing their bodies does not guarantee success or increased music sales.
While acknowledging the freedom to choose their attires, Halima suggested wearing mini dresses with undergarments that conceal their body parts.
On my side, I have done my job and talked to these artists. I keep telling all these female artists that putting your naked body on display is not promoting your name and music. But again, I do not stop them from putting on mini-dresses/skirts, that is if they have the black bikers they put inside. If she puts that on, she is free to put on her mini and show off her good legs, Halima Namakula said.
