Veteran musician Halima Namakula has opened up about her experiences with men, [particularly those in the music industry. Having been in the industry for more than a decade, she has established herself as a true icon and a role model.
In an interview, the ‘Ekimbeewo’ hitmaker confidently revealed that she has never given men a chance to woo her, maintaining her self-respect and pride, especially in the competitive music industry where women are exploited and objectified.
Men do not easily woo me. I do not easily give men the chance to. Even at my old age, I’m so proud and do not give them that chance.
I’m not the most expensive or the most beautiful but I have my own standards. You approach me knowing that I do not make it easy for men. I do not sleep around with men, Halima Namakula revealed.
Unlike most of the young female artists who have fallen victim to the sexual advances from deejays and producers in exchange for playing their music in the air, Halima Namakula proudly stated that she was already a star and during her time, the music stakeholders needed her to make their careers successful and not the other way round. With this, she never had to compromise her integrity in exchange for fame.
I was a celebrity and already had my name. I did not need favors, if you do not play my song, someone else will because at the end of the day it was me adding something to your name, she noted.
