‘I Will Never Kneel For My Husband’ – Vivian Tendo Challenges Cultural Norms

Songstress Vivian Tendo has spoken out against traditional gender roles, making it clear that she has never knelt for her husband also pastor, Moses Tinsley. Her statements challenge the cultural norms of the most Bantu tribes, where women are expected to show humility by kneeling for their husbands especially when they are greeting or serving them a meal.

A while back, photos circulated on social media platforms showing Vivian’s husband in the kitchen doing the cooking for the day, compelling netizens to assume that she was mistreating and disrespecting his status as the man of the house.

Vivian Tendo, however, has set the record straight, revealing that the photos were posted by her husband himself and that it was simply a carefree moment.

“Those photos did not leak; it was my husband who posted them. It was not a secret. And I think people miss out on a lot of things, like those photos he posted, they did not bother to read the caption but jumped to conclusions that I’m mistreating him,” Vivian Tendo laughed about it.

The ‘Dose’ hitmaker went ahead to praise her husband, describing him as a unique, carefree, and supportive partner who doesn’t take offense in the fact that she doesn’t kneel. She made it clear that he doesn’t adhere to the traditional masculine expectations, but instead, finds joy in a more loving and equal partnership.

Vivian Tendo believes that the idea of kneeling for your spouse is outdated and was worshipped by the people in the African traditional society.

“Besides that, God is good that he didn’t give me these regular men that most of you people are used to. Even when a man marries you, you do not turn into a donkey. I do not kneel while serving my husband because he is not a Muganda. There is no problem in that and I believe such things are from way back in the African Traditional Society. The good thing is he doesn’t receive it in a bad way,” Vivian Tendo said.

Earlier this month, a video surfaced showing the current Minister of State for Minerals, Phiona Nyamutooro serving juice to her husband Eddy Kenzo while standing. It was a mixture of reactions as a section of netizens crucified her for lacking respect as she was supposed to be kneeling down. Vivian Tendo, on the other hand, thinks otherwise.

“Those who comment such things even beat their men but they are talking about someone who served her husband juice while standing,” Vivian Tendo noted.

Vivian Tendo and Tinsley last month celebrated their first wedding anniversary. They tied the knot on 15th July 2023 at Voyager Beach, Mombasa. Since then, the two have been enjoying each other’s company as man and wife and we are certain that they are planning on expanding their family further.
