Events host and socialite Sheilah Gashumba has raised a social media debate for throwing jabs at men who send their women little money as upkeep.
The controversial debate started when one X/Twitter user criticized a man who had sent her Ugx. 50K questioning what it can buy at this time when commodity prices are skyrocketing.
This guy just sent me UGX 50K, like what can you do with 50K in this economy? Tuswaleko…’ read Esther Birungi’s tweet.
This sent social media into a frenzy with many of her followers calling her ungrateful and advising her to get a job instead of depending on men for money.
Sheilah Gashumba was one of the many people who quoted the tweet, but quite contrary to the rest, she was in support and called such men ‘disrespectful’.
The Gash Glam boss has over time come off as a posh girl who detests poverty. In one of her Snapchat confessions, Sheilah Gashumba revealed that she would no longer date any man who does not earn at least 10 times more than what she makes a week.

“I just decided not to talk about the money I make for a reason. You must be in a way higher tax bracket than me and not in shillings. I’m talking pounds, US Dollars, Australian dollars, Euros, Canadian dollars etc!! We can be friends tho,” she wrote on Snapchat shortly after her breakup with her boyfriend, Rickman Manrick in June.
