Renowned Kadongo Kamu artist JB Byekwaso has addressed the viral allegations suggesting that Ava Peace and Jeff Kiwa stole his song ‘Omwana We Buddu’.
Ava Peace released ‘Omwana We Buddu’ under TNS three weeks ago, and it is already trending on both the charts and social media platforms.
JB acknowledged that he owns the song and released his version in 2021. He claims the song was excellent, prompting Ava Peace’s manager, Jeff Kiwa, to reach out to him.
He claims they had an understanding for Ava Peace to redo the song as Jeff felt it was well-suited to her style of music and would take her places.

During their discussion, JB asked Jeff if they wanted to own the rights to the song, something he turned down. Jeff allegedly told him that he would own his song and was free to perform it anywhere at any time.
On the other hand, JB doesn’t have any issue with Ava Peace performing her version of the song. He also thanked Jeff Kiwa and Ava Peace for bringing out the beauty of his song. He claimed they did justice to it, promoting and making it more popular among Ugandans.

“In short, the song is mine and I’m free to perform it the way I like. The agreement was done on a friendship basis and some sort of appreciation that I cannot mention how much it was. If he had bought it, then I wouldn’t be performing it because now they would be owning it. Now I have no problem with Ava Peace performing it. No one is owing the other and I did it out of friendship,” he told Sanyuka TV.
