Songstress Aroma has blamed the media for pushing drama and advocating for chaos instead of concentrating on the different achievements and milestones bagged by Ugandan artists.
Aroma’s concerns stem from Joshua Baraka’s Trace Awards nomination and Summit 2025 which she says has not received enough attention from netizens all because the news is covered by fights in the music industry instead of celebrating such an achievement that could easily put the country on top.
“That is Uganda for you and journalists are the people that push drama the most. If you guys could front Joshua Baraka’s achievements more than the sagas, we would be far; but you do not. His nomination is a big deal,” she said.
Joshua Baraka is nominated in the Best Artist East African category in the prestigious awards that will be held at Mora Zanzibar Resort on the 24th of February 2025.

The awards are highly rated and aimed at celebrating African talent and creativity on a global scale. Not many Ugandans have got the opportunity to receive a nod and Aroma believes Ugandan artists, just need to keep releasing good music that will put them out there for recognition.

“As an artist, you just need to produce good music and don’t just jump on trends. The rest is supposed to come from the home market to push me out there,” she said.
