Karole Kasita reveals shift in Uganda music industry: Less showbiz, more music

Musician Karole Kasita has opened up about the current state of Ugandan music, noting that the entertainment industry no longer prioritizes showbiz.

During her appearance in an interview, Karole Kasita explained that the industry as a whole is undergoing significant change. This has seen it focusing less on showbiz and more on releasing music.

Karole Kasita emphasized that in earlier years, musicians focused more on the drama surrounding who drove the latest cars, built the most lavish houses, and wore the most expensive clothes, among other things.

Artists like Sheebah Karungi, Spice Diana, and Cindy Sanyu frequently clashed in public, aiming to outcompete one another. Karole, however, says that trend ended with that lot.

Lately, musicians are focusing on releasing quality music and staying on the charts, as they need to generate more income. She revealed that the celebrity-driven hype is now outdated and no longer makes news.

“People are busy doing their shows and do not even care about what cars they are driving. That is outdated. People no longer compete for attention or fame in the showbiz industry. I don’t know why it is like that, but people no longer care about showbiz.

Musically, it’s not putting us down because good music is still being released. However, people often do things because they have seen others do it; competition in showbiz is no longer considered trendy. People release music because even when they have excellent cars, others wouldn’t even mind that, Karole Kasita said.
