Today 10th August 2024 Ugandans were shocked following the saddening news of the Kiteezi landfill covering a section of the area dwellers.
According to reports surrounding the unforeseen incident, the garbage collapsed, on Saturday early morning, engulfing property, people’s lives, and livestock.
At present the emergency response is ongoing at the landfill site, and excavators are doing their best to rescue lives as ambulances swiftly rush them to the nearby health facilities.
Kiteezi landfill has accumulated garbage over the past decades, hence the formation of a large mound.

The number of casualties is not confirmed by press time, but we shall keep you posted as more details emerge.
