Renowned events promoter Luba Events cries foul as he narrates how singer Eddy Kenzo ate his UGX 140M and denied him the right to stage the just concluded ‘Eddy Kenzo Festival’.
According to Luba, he entered an agreement with Kenzo to stage his festival on 28th March 2020 at Kololo Airstrip.
The promoter adds that Eddy Kenzo asked for UGX 140M, which he availed. However, as they geared up for the festivities, the country was sent into a total lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Luba adds that upon the government lifting the ban on the night economy and public gatherings, he reached out to Kenzo to reschedule their festival.
To his surprise, the singer notified him that the money he had initially availed had been used, and demanded another UGX 550M.
Despite requesting mediation with Eddy Kenzo, this did not produce any results, prompting Luba to seek justice in court.
The Luba Events proprietor poured cold water on Kenzo’s claims that the promoter sabotaged his event, and plotted his murder, before maintaining that the singer’s laments were aimed at hoodwinking the public.
Furthermore, the tearful promoter revealed that he has already obtained a court injunction, and no Ugandan promoter is permitted to book Eddy Kenzo for any event until their disagreements are resolved.
