Earlier this week, Masaka city businessman Lwasa Emmanuel Kaweesi was arrested and detained at Jinja Road Police station on accounts of document forgery.
The Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed Lwasa’s arrest and detention, over forging the signatures of top-notch officials in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.

Lwasa was driven to his home, and the entire house was thoroughly searched for more evidence regarding the matter.
He slept behind bars for one day and was released as the Police initiated investigations into his continuous fraudulent behavior.
Addressing the matter after his release, Lwasa revealed in an interview with Urban TV’s Short Circuit that he was clueless about the invalidity of the license, hence forwarding it to his business partners in Spain.
However, his partners sent it back to Uganda for verification by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, who found out it was fake.
He blamed his arrest and detention on his employee, who got money from him only to process the license through the wrong channels.
