Ugandan rapper Mun G, born Matovu Mungi Emanuel has recounted the day he met veteran singer Jose Chameleone and the circumstances that led to the release of their club banger, ‘Born Fighter’ that rocked airwaves in 2016.
While Mun G was out partying at a then-popular hangout spot that was frequented by a lot of artists, he rubbed shoulders with the Leone Island boss.
During their interaction, Jose Chameleone could not fail to notice that Mun G was a great artist with quality music; he only needed a push and influence from a big artist like him to appeal to a wider audience.
Jose Chameleone, a big and influential artist in the music industry, and made a suggestion to record a track with Mun G which he believed would be a massive hit.
He hoped that their collaboration would take over the club playlists, outnumbering the Nigerian and Jamaican music that had become a common trend in clubs.
I thought he was joking and asked me when I was ready to hit the studio. He gave me his number and I called him telling him we should meet in Ntinda the next day. I thought he would not turn up but I was surprised when he arrived on time for the recording, Mun G revealed.
Several people have testified that Jose Chameleone is one of the most complicated artists to work with on a song but Mun G begs to differ as the singer did not give him a hard time at any one bit.
