Renowned Ugandan musician Daudi Mugema has today, 24th June 2025, been pronounced dead.
For the past few years, Daudi Mugema has been grappling with health challenges linked to cancer. In his media interviews, Mugema revealed that the health complications began after being apprehended and held at Kireka Police Station, resulting in the development of severe issues in his feet.
Subsequently, upon seeking medical attention at the Uganda Cancer Institute, it was discovered that his leg had been afflicted by cancer.
To combat this formidable disease, Daudi Mugema underwent chemotherapy, which led to him occasionally donning a cape due to the hair loss caused by the treatment’s side effects.
Amid health challenges, Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago came to the singer’s aid, facilitating his travel to Turkey for specialized medical treatment.
Following his return, Mugema revealed that he was doing better and had hopes of recovery. Unfortunately, the singer’s illness started again, and he sought money to meet his medical bills.
According to reports, at the time of his death, the singer had travelled to Gulu to seek medical assistance from Gen. Salim Saleh, the Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC).

The singer’s death has been met with significant sorrow, with fellow musicians and fans taking to social media to express their sincere condolences.
