US-based Ugandan musician Naira Ali, born Nabattu Naira Ali made a bold decision to leave the country five years ago to America. She has built a stable life for herself both professionally and personally and doesn’t regret her relocation.
During a video call with Spark TV, the Obukodyo hitmaker listed passive poverty in the country as a major factor as to why she doesn’t miss her former life back home.
She revealed that the poverty and life struggles were unmanageable, forcing her to look for a greener pasture.
Naira Ali relocated in August 2019 and has since lived a comfortable life and secured a good job in healthcare. Just like before, music is still her passion and she continues to release new songs for her fans in the US and back home.
Despite her stable life, Naira Ali has confessed that she not only misses her family but also the energy around her every time she steps on stage to perform in Uganda. She misses the love and support from her fans because in the US, she is just a regular person.
I do not miss Uganda. It is brokness everywhere. What is there to miss about poverty? The only thing I miss is my family. That’s all and maybe once in a while being on stage, having many fans enjoying you perform. That is just once in a while, but generally, no, she said.

Since this feeling comes once in a while, it was not enough to convince her to come back to Uganda. Naira Ali, in fact, called the USA her new home and equated a trip back to Uganda as the one you make while coming from the city and traveling to the village.
