Singer and pastor Wilson Bugembe has spoken against the rising trend of Christian youths prioritizing their pastors over God. The trend has accelerated with the rise of young and captivating pastors who usually command a huge following mainly of fellow young people.
According to the Worship House lead pastor, the energetic followers and worshippers have lifted their pastors to celebrity status, constantly heaping praises on them and adoring them on their social media platforms.
This, however, has become a concern to Pastor Bugembe who argues that the obsession is damaging and is a sign of idolization.
“Most youths in this generation believe in their pastors more than they believe in Jesus. You find young people uploading the photos of their pastors on their statuses but have never done the same thing for their husbands.
Who is bewitching this era of the youths? People sleep with portraits of their prophets besides their beds because they believe they are watching over them in all that they do. They keep honoring them and singing about how much they love them,” he said.
The celebrity pastor further emphasized that pastors and prophets are just mortal men who serve God, not the source of salvation.
We are not the answer, Jesus Christ is the answer, Pastor Wilson Bugembe argued.ALSO READ: Shazney Khan announces her pregnancy
