Pia Pounds addresses Eddie Ssendi’s hurtful remarks about her performance at ‘Neyanziza’ Concert

Singer Pia Pounds has come out to address the comments made by media personality Eddie Ssendi during his talk show, noting that she was hurt by what he had to say about her stage performance of her hit song ‘Tupaate’.

The renowned entertainment critic during his show that airs on YouTube claimed that he was disappointed by Pia Pounds’ performance at the recently concluded ‘Neyanziza’ Concert.

He insinuated that the ‘Wakikuba’ hitmaker invests a lot in her appearance instead of the vocals which he said were lacking. He advised her to go for vocal training and also put in more effort to rehearse before she hits the stage.

In a series of Twitter/X posts, Pia Pounds expressed how Eddie Ssendi’s criticism and comments hurt her so badly, but said she would use them to work on herself as an artist.

In her defense, she listed the possible reasons as to why an artist could sound bad on stage besides being untalented and according to her, when an artist steps on a big stage, they sometimes struggle with sound where they are overpowered by the instruments, leading to a vocal strain.

Mzee Ssendi, your comment that nyimba bubi (I sing poorly) hurt me so much but I’ll take it as constructive criticism and work towards growing as an artist. It’s important to note that there are many other reasons as to why an artist could sound bad on stage besides being untalented. Sound, stage monitors. We can’t hear ourselves on stage,” read part of Pia Pounds’ tweets, stating that this particular performance was recorded in low range.
