Rapper Gravity Omutujju has been summoned by police to answer to charges slapped against him by events promoter commonly known as Omutooro.
Narrating the case to the media, Omutooro revealed that he sent Gravity Omutujju a booking fee of Shs. 1M out of the agreed Shs. 2M on Thursday 31st, meant for a performance at The Oasis Villa Club located in Kawempe Lugoba. He was to receive the remaining balance on the day of the show but he did not turn up.
I called Gravity Omutujju after his life challenges (losing his mother) and asked him if he would perform. He agreed since he had spent a lot of money and was not working at that time, Omutooro said.
On the day of the show which was 3rd November, Omutooro called Gravity Omutujju reminding him of his performance which was scheduled for 1 AM, and to his surprise, the singer informed him that he was not around town.
When he was queried, Gravity advised Omutooro to get a replacement for the night, promising to refund his money the next day, something that he did not do.
I called him at 10:40PM informing him about his performance at 1:00 AM and he told me he had traveled and claimed that he had sent someone to tell me. He told me to get a replacement for myself because he said he was not friends with his fellow artists. He promised that he would refund my money, Omutooro narrated.
Omutooro shared a phone recording of their conversation and Gravity is heard confirming that he was not around town and would do a refund the next day.
When Omutooro tried to tell Gravity Omutujju about the repercussions of his failure to turn up, Gravity arrogantly says he could easily take their money and not refund if they put him under pressure.
Omutooro quickly contacted Acidic Vokoz to cover up for Gravity’s mess, something that he did not budget for. He quickly filed a case against the rapper at Jinja Road Police Station seeking to be compensated for the money he had paid Acidic Vokoz, the booking fee that he had sent him earlier, the money spent on posters, banners, paying social media influencers plus the money spent on the 6 drives which he says cost Shs. 300K each.
