Kampala woman MP Shamim Malende has been flown to Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, for specialized treatment following months of experiencing health challenges.
For several months, Shamim Malende has been confined to the hospital bed in Nsambya, where she was admitted following a scuffle at Parliament.
Despite the medical treatment, Malende’s health has never gotten any better, and she has been unable to fulfil her office obligations.
As her health continued to deteriorate, Nsambya Hospital recommended her to Aga Khan Hospital in Kenya for specialized treatment.
While addressing members of the press this morning, Malende revealed that she has been experiencing excruciating abdominal pain due to the injuries sustained during the the controversial passing of bills rationalizing Uganda Coffee Development Authority.

She further revealed that she neither speaks nor walks properly, with Nsambya hospital suggesting an operation yet to be carried out in Nairobi.

Malende disclosed that she has been covering her medical expenses, as the parliamentary medical insurance caps the amount allocated for healthcare.
