Sheikh Kiti apologizes to Catholics over recent comments

Outspoken Sheikh Burhan Kiti has finally bowed down to pressure and apologized to the Catholic community for the recent remarks calling them idol worshippers.

In a video circulating on social media, Sheikh Kiti issued an apology to the entire Christian community, emphasizing that he did not intend any disrespect.

He says he was trying to market his religion and, in the process, he unintentionally made statements that sounded demeaning to the Catholics.

“I want to apologize to everyone I hurt from the bottom of my heart. Many times, we talk about other religions, not in a way of insulting. My intention was not to humiliate or belittle the worshippers. Many claim I do not like Catholics or Pentecostals, but it is not true. This is not my world. I apologize for the language I used but not the message I was spreading about my creator. I now come in the image of holding a discussion not to disrespect. I apologize to everyone and I hope you receive it,” he said.

Sheikh Kiti also expressed his disappointment towards everyone who insulted him for the statements he made. He revealed that it was unfair for people to abuse him instead of correcting him, as he is also a human being liable to making mistakes.

Sheikh Kiti

Sheikh Kiti was a topic of discussion last week following his comments about the Catholic faith. Around Martyr’s Day, the public speaker boldly claimed that the Catholic pilgrims were bowing down to worship portraits, something that did not sit well with the believers.

It should be remembered that two months ago, King Saha delivered a white Toyota Vanguard to the Sheikh, bought from the drive that saw social media users collect funds. Since the controversial statements, several people on social media platforms have been calling him out, telling him to refund the money they collected to buy his car.

At the height of the moment, unidentified perpetrators scratched his car in Maganjo, Kawempe, leaving him to cry over the repair expenses.
