Dancehall singer and Uganda Musician Association President Cindy Sanyu has responded to the preset fees set forth by the Uganda Promoters Association as payment for artists.
On Wednesday this week, Ugandan events promoters through their umbrella the Uganda Promoters Association issued a document stipulating how every Ugandan artist should be paid for their services henceforth.
Based on the document, Bobi Wine is the most valued with UGX 20M, while Ronald Mayinja is valued between 200K and 400K.
The document, which has subsequently gained widespread attention, has become the topic of discussion as numerous industry stakeholders have voiced their opinions.
Cindy Sanyu is the most recent to voice her complaints regarding the document, and she didn’t have any favorable words to say about the people who drafted the document making rounds.
Through Facebook, Cindy asked where promoters get the nerve to tell artists to lower their standards just because they can’t afford them.
The enraged singer continued by advising promoters to hold off on employing artists if they cannot afford them.
