Mama D, a Ugandan chef is currently engaged in a culinary marathon to surpass the existing Guinness World Record for the longest uninterrupted cooking session.
Basheba Dorcus Kirabo alias Mama D from Mama Ds Keychen, commenced her cooking journey on Saturday 23 December 2023 in Kira to break the current record held by Irish chef Alan Fisher, who cooked for an impressive 119 hours and 57 minutes.
Alan Fisher took over the record from Nigeria’s chef Hilda Effiong Bassey, also known as Hilda Baci, who cooked for 93 hours and 11 minutes.
Mama D expressed her intention to cook for a duration of 121 hours or more, with the aim of surpassing the existing Cookathon record.
She further shared that she will be preparing a wide variety of dishes throughout her cooking marathon, embracing any culinary challenge that comes her way and all the prepared food will be free of charge.
In her pursuit of the Guinness World Record, Mama D has garnered significant support from various food companies, who have generously provided her with cooking supplies and other essential items.
Numerous Ugandans have flocked to her cooking venue to offer their support and witness her triumphant achievement of bringing the record home.

At the time of publication, Mama D had prepared a sumptuous meal of “Katogo,” a beloved Ugandan dish made from a blend of cassava and beans, for a total of 24 hours.
