Ugandans across the country are saddened by the death of the speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah L’Okori who lost the battle in Seatle on Sunday.
Oulanyah’s death was revealed to the general public by the president of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on 20th March 2022, through his Twitter account.

According to the President’s tweet, it details that he got the sad news of Oulanyah’s passing at 10: 30am from the caretakers and the doctor who has been taking care of him in the intensive care unit.
He further noted that the announcement was delayed so that his children would be informed first before the public.
“Countrymen and Countrywomen. It is with a lot of sadness that I announce the death of the Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah, the Speaker of Parliament. I got information of this sad news at 10.30 am, East African time from People that have been with him and the doctor that was caring for him in the intensive care unit. He was a good Cadre. I delayed the announcement so that his children would be informed first,” Mr. Museveni said.

A few weeks back, rumors had it that Oulanyah was flown out of the country for further treatment in Seattle, Washington in the United States where he has been pronounced dead.
Oulanyah was born in the then Gulu District, on March 23, 1965, to Nathan L’okori and Karen Atwon. He died at the age of 56.
