Next media presenter and renowned events emcee Katamba Edwin famously known as MC Kats broke down in tears as he narrated how Swangz Avenue’s boss Julius Kyazze disappointed him.
On Friday this week, Mc Kats was hosted at Urban Television to take the world through his journey as an HIV/AIDS victim and his role in stopping the spread of the disease.
In his open conversations with Miles Rwamiti, Kats disclosed that he has experienced both highs and lows while educating young people about HIV/AIDS.
He recalled a situation in which he wanted to schedule Winnie Nwagi as one of the performers at the “U CAN” university tour and made arrangements with the singer’s label head Julius Kyazze.
On the day of the event, Julius surprised Kats by demanding UGX 2.5M before Winnie Nwagi could attend any of the latter’s activities.
Kats, who was unable to control his emotions, highlighted that Julius, the label’s boss, could not return the favor and wanted such a high amount of money despite his efforts toward the music industry and the years he has known Swangz Avenue.
He continued by emphasizing that he has never asked Julius for a favor or a job at Swangz Avenue and that he expected the label to be considerate considering that the ”U CAN tour” was not profit oriented.
In the same interview, Kats said that he is the only person in the nation to have successfully pushed the majority of entertainment industry stakeholders to inform their audience about HIV/AIDS without bing paid.
The self-described “king of the mic” stated that by disclosing his HIV status, he sacrificed his children’s future since they would be stigmatized due to their father’s status.
