Vinka shares her airhostess aspirations before music career

Singer Veronica Lugya alias Vinka has revealed that she never dreamed of being a musician.

Despite her success in the music industry, Vinka mentioned that her childhood dreams were not in any way connected to being a musician.

She revealed that while she was in school, she always pictured herself working in aviation as an air hostess. Therefore, she had to apply for a course related to tourism.

Her decision was highly influenced by her strict parents. She thought they would not stand her being in the challenging industry.

“I was just a child dancing for fun. There was a curfew at home and was not interested in the entertainment industry because my parents were strict. I never expected this; all I wanted was to go to school and work in aviation.

Always saw myself flying around the world and I even applied for a Bachelor of Tourism because I was eyeing an air hostess job.” Vinka said.

Vinka’s music journey started way back in high school. Together with her friends, she represented their school, St. Lawrence, at the famous Hot Steps during the S.6 vacation.

They won the competitions and were luckily spotted for the late Sera’s video shoot for ‘Boy You’re Fire’.

This was Vinka’s very first professional gig and she continued moving with Sera as her dancer in different schools.

She also worked with Jackie Chandiru. Through connections, Swangz Avenue’s Julius Kyazze asked her for a meeting to join the label as an artist manager.

Vinka picked interest in doing music as a career after Julius Kyazze suggested that she fit all the qualities of the type of artist the label was looking for at that time. That’s when Vinka knew she was meant to be a musician.
