Mpaka Records boss Ykee Benda has come out to address the scuffle that ensued during the Miss Uganda grand finale at the Sheraton Hotel, denying accusations that his team fought with the security guards.
According to Ykee Benda, his manager arrived at the venue before him and alerted security that his team would be coming shortly.
“My manager arrived before me and explained to them that there was a group coming. Just like we do every other event; one goes before the rest and alerts the people at the entrance that there is a team that is coming,”
When Ykee finally came through, they were denied access to the premises because they did not have wristbands which were being given to attendees after paying the entrance fee.
As he was standing quietly at the side, watching the drama unfold, the other security guard came from nowhere, shouting at him, ordering him to remove his cap.
“As a human being, I also got so pissed because these people had been told that we would be coming. Even his bosses from the inside knew about this. The guy came and touched me, I also removed my cape and put it back. He told me to completely remove it and I refused, that is where all the problems started. I think he was also drunk and the attitude was up there compared to any normal person,” he narrated.
This was when other security guards joined them, seeking to know why their colleague was pushing a musician around and trying to calm the situation down before a fight could break out.
“That is when the person behind the video came and started recording. He only captured that part but there was no fight,” Ykee Benda said, denying reports that they exchanged punches.
