After a chaotic fallout with former signee Dre Cali, musician and label owner Ykee Benda has finally accepted defeat and confessed to moving on with his life and career.
Recall in 2022, Dre Cali secretly abandoned Ykee Benda’s label Mpaka Records, fleeing to Canada without notice.
The sudden departure left Ykee seeking answers, expressing anger, embarrassment, and disappointment through various interviews and social media rants.
The tension escalated with Ykee demanding Dre Cali to drop his stage name, claiming ownership belonged to the Mpaka Record label. However, Dre Cali continued releasing music and performing under the same name in Canada.
Fast-forward, Ykee Benda has come to terms with the past, choosing to release any lingering resentment, allowing Dre Cali to go on with his life.
Netizens thought that he would not sign any more artists following Dre Cali’s departure, but Ykee Benda has revealed that he will still have new talent in a couple of years but they will have a solid background before joining the label.
I left him alone to go forward with his music and move on with his life. However, we are still signing artists but that may happen in two years’ time, Ykee Benda revealed.
