For about three weeks now, the song dubbed Charles Yimirira Awo had booked a spot on the Tiktok app with Ugandans creating different challenges as they used the sound. In the beginning, the song showed that it belonged to Tony Kalanzi, a legendary singer who passed on a few months ago. As the song was trending, it also caught singer Zani Lady C who is based in the US and this raised her eyebrows.
The song that was all over social media got Zani Lady C’s attention to the extent that she came to remind Ugandans that she owned it.
According to Zani Lady C, Tony Kalanzi who first appeared to be the owner of the song didn’t add anything to it but rather he infringed the rights.
He was just a band member and at that time, he was doing his thing as I did my things but it was just wrong for him to publish my music without my consent.
Being a new artiste, Zani said she did the song at Kasiwukira Studios and released it but never followed it up because it didn’t hit.
She was surprised that years later, the song was a hit and was owned by another singer. Zani quickly claimed ownership with different kinds of proof and yes oh yes, the video is even here with her in it.
